Despite the recent major technological advances the prevalence of peritoneal dialysis (PD) has remained unchanged over the last 23 years (10%-11%). Public institutions (Region, ASL, University) and nephrologists share the responsibility for the underuse of PD, since both have underestimated that, at a time of severe economic crisis, the health care system can offer efficient and qualified health benefits even at a lower cost than that of traditional procedures.Downloads
