Prof. Zerbini serves as Director and Head of Cancer Genomics Group at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in Cape Town (South Africa)

He previously was Faculty in Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA and Associate Director, Research Proteomics, BIDMC, Boston, USA (2004-2009); Senior Research Scientist at BIDMC and NIH-Postdoctoral Fellow, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA (2000-2003).

The overall goals of the Dr. Zerbini’s research are to utilize OMICs tools and signal transduction resources to accelerate comparative analysis of aberrant gene expression in carcinogenesis and to study alterations in signal transduction pathways during development of cancers. Dr. Zerbini’s research has been widely supported by several funding organizations, such as National Institutes of Health (NIH USA), Department of Defense (DoD, USA), National Research Foundation (NRF) South Africa and European Union 2020.
