Roger Chammas is a professor of Oncology at the Universidade de São Paulo, where he also direct the Center for Translational Research in Oncology at the Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo, Faculdade de Medicina. He is the founding director of the Comprehensive Center for Precision Oncology at the Universidade de São Paulo, a center dedicated to fostering collaborative and transdisciplinary cancer research in the region.
Since joining the faculty in 2001, his research has focused on emerging mechanisms of tumor resistance to various treatments, including aspects of tumor physiology (vasculature tone and function) and microenvironmental cell response to therapy. He also has been an honorary adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte since 2016, collaborating on RNA nanotechnology.
He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the American Association for Cancer Research, where he contributes to the Latin-American subcommittee for Global Affairs.
