Eugenio Santoro is a researcher at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research. He is an expert in digital health, new technologies, epidemiology and clinical trials. Since 2006 he has been dealing with social media, apps, wearables, artificial intelligence, digital health and digital therapeutics and their impact on clinical practice, health care and communication.

Author of 250 scientific articles, he has published the volumes "Web 2.0 and social media in medicine", "Facebook, Twitter and medicine",  and "Internet and medicine" (all published in Italian by Il Pensiero Scientifico Editore ). In 2020 he also published as co-author the e-book "Digital Therapeutics from A to Z" and in 2021 edited the entry "Digital Health" for the X Appendix of the Treccani encyclopedia dedicated to the words of the 21st century. He is also co-author of the first book in Italy focusing on digital therapeutics (Digital therapeutics, an opportunity for Italy).

Eugenio Santoro is a member of the ICT group of FNOMCeO, a member of the Control Committee of the Institute of Advertising Self-discipline, and a member of the Medical Devices Observatory (SaMD) at the National Center for Innovative Technologies in Public Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità).
